If you are fancying a great pie, look no further than Voakes Free From gluten free pies. They are packed full of the most wonderful flavoured fillings and encased in a perfect crisp pastry that leaves you wondering how they can possibly be gluten free – well they really are!!
The Voakes Free From range has grown over the years and as well as all the pies being gluten free, many of them are also suitable for additional dietary needs. Their Free From website is excellent and makes it nice and easy to check out the suitability for you. And with Voakes you really are in safe hands, as Laura Voakes is also coeliac and has a passion for pies…how good is that!!
I first discovered Voakes Free From pies at a gluten free food fair a few years ago and loved them! From then on, at each event I attended I would ensure I would pop across to see them and pick up my ‘Voakes supply.’
To bring me up to date with the Voakes range I’ve had a lovely time this week checking out good old classics and some super tasty new additions (kindly gifted to me from Voakes). What’s great too, is there are larger pies now available to share – Me and Neil are rather big eaters, so we polished off a delicious chicken one between us (it maybe could have done 3?!!) with some homemade chips and steamed veg.
My hot favourites had to be – the cheese and onion pasty (just how a cheese and onion pasty should taste), perfect for me with Heinz baked beans – the Caramelised onion and feta cheese quiche is a massive favourite of mine, and I simply tucked into this warm from the oven – the lentil and vegetable pie was a first for me, and I loved the balanced flavour and texture, great lunch with a jacket potato and salad – and of course the chicken plate pie that we gleefully gobbled up!
Oh, and the yummy steak and ale pie worked a treat with creamy mash and buttered cabbage! (gravy is Knorr classic gluten free from the free from aisle.)
I set myself up with a ‘little’ ploughman’s platter to enjoy the wonderful pork pie range. Including the classic pork – pork, chicken and stuffing – and the tremendus pork and apple pie! If like me chilli is your ‘thing,’ I would also urge you to check out the pork and chilli pie…it’s a beaut!
We are so lucky to have such fabulous quality, gluten free products on the market, slotting into our lives and making things normal…thank you Voakes!!
If all this pie talk has got you wanting one, there are various ways of getting your hands on a ‘Voakes’……
