I finally got chance to pop into Off The Wheaten Track for a bite to eat the other Friday. This place had been on my wish list of places to eat ever since it had opened earlier in the year.
Off The Wheaten Track is a 100% gluten free deli and cheese specialist, situated in the lovely town centre of Altrincham.
Lunch at Off The Wheaten Track
I grabbed myself a seat at the bench by the window and ordered a flat white to enjoy, whilst I pondered over the menu. The homemade meat and potato pie was tempting, but I opted for cheese and onion pie, with baked beans. This proved to be a super choice. The pie had a delicious light crust and gorgeous, perfectly flavoured filling. And the homemade baked beans with a delicate smokey flavour were just YUM!
It was a joy being perched at the bench eating great food and watching the world go by. And I was delighted whilst looking out of the window, to spot a Pipers crisps van pull up; they were only delivering my FAVOURITE crisps to this fabulous deli! Could things get any better?!
Off The Wheaten Track makes all their own gluten free pies and cakes on the premises. I couldn’t manage to squeeze cake in after my lunch, so instead I grabbed a slice of carrot cake and parkin to take home with me. Both cakes were lovely, particularly the parkin, which I’d not eaten since being diagnosed with coeliac disease in 2003.
I’m hoping it won’t be too long before I get to pop into off the Wheaten Track. And I hope that you get to call in soon too. Prepare to be VERY spoilt for gluten free choice!

P.S. Off The Wheaten Track is only a few miles from Dunham Massey which is a beautiful place to wander around. And maybe somewhere you’d like to see after you have visited this very special deli.
